Last year I co-directed a Straight 8 short entitled ‘Punch’. An original script based on the traditional show. Here is the baby model that I designed and made for it (with art dept assistant Deborah Besana).

The film hasn’t yet had a public screening. We are thinking of tightening up the edit and releasing the film to coincide with the anniversary.

Santander full commercial and full frame You Sew

Here are two links to my vimeo page where you can now see the You Sew section that I directed, designed and animated for one of the spots in the new Santander campaign.

I have uploaded both the full ad and the untouched version of my section only

I embroidered the majority of the word Sew by hand using a technique called silk shading. After that I finished it off by animating the serif at the end of the W, stop frame, in satin stitch. The embroidery was then comped on to a background plate and graded in After Effects (by John Taylor).

Santander Commercial

The new Santander campaign, that I directed a small piece of animation for, is on TV from this Sunday the 4th of March. There are four different spots. Look out for my section ‘You Sew’ in one of them.

I designed, animated and directed the piece through Passion Pictures/Strange Beast; after effects compositing on my section: John Taylor; agency: Euro RSCG London; animation producer: Hannah Kluman; studio (for shoot): Lizzie Oxby.

I’ve been shooting some stop-frame for a little section that I’m directing on a Santander commercial. The commercial is a live action and animation mix, and the animation is being created by various directors at Passion Pictures/Strange Beast.

I am pleased that two of my most recent pieces of work have been shortlisted for the BAAs this year. They are FIFA – 20 Centres in the Best Commissioned Animation category and Fairy – Make a Wish in the Best 2D Commercial category. Fingers and toes crossed for a finalist nomination…

Here are links to both the Evening Standard and the What’s on Stage five star reviews of the show I’ve been working on for the last couple of months. I was team leader on a scene, both sourcing components and set dressing. And last night I was in it too!

Unfortunately tickets are sold out for this run, but be sure to get on board either as a passenger or cast/crew member next year, it’s one hell of a ride!
